The project is technically supported by CYLAND MediaArtLab.
The idea of the exhibition ‘Aesthetic Differences’ is centered around the story of the formation of personal identity in the context of multiplying stylistic trends, ideological doctrines, economic and socio-cultural circumstances of contemporary Russian art. The exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s self-determination and maps today’s collisions — clashes of views, interests and human passions. Focusing on aesthetic / moral / ideological dominants, artists formulate their own credo and outline the boundaries of their stylistic identity.
Each of the authors has a special experience in working with materiality — among the participants are painters, monumentalists, icon painters, architects, specialists in working with wood, metal, ceramics, media technologies. For the project, young artists have chosen different conceptual approaches and material textures, and gender differences make the “aesthetic differences” even more intense. However, the general line of the narrative, composed “on the theme”, is built into an articulated generational statement.
Participants of the exhibition — graduates of the PRO ARTE’s School for Young Artists 2020-2021: Anton Alter, Katya Atamanova, Irina Heints, Karina Dracheva, Tanika Yezhova, Ulyana Erokhina, Elena Isho, Evgeny Korelin, Matvey Korochkin, Alina Kugush, Mark Maklakov, Alesya Murlina, Alena Pechnikova, Maria Shabanova.
