CYFEST (CYBERFEST)

CYLAND began their annual festival in 2007, in St. Petersburg, Russia – CYFEST (formerly, Cyberfest). Over the following editions, this event grew to be housed across the city’s most prestigious institutions. The festival promotes the emergence of new forms of art and high technology interactions, developing professional connections between artists, curators, engineers and programmers around the world and exposing wide audiences to the works in the field of robotics, video art, sound art and net art. In 2013, CYLAND expanded the 7th annual edition of CYFEST for the first time outside of Russia. Still dedicated to bringing international New Media talent, press, and resources to Russia – traveling abroad opened additional potential for discourse among global innovation community.

15th CYFEST (2023):

CYFEST-15 in Yerevan is dedicated to (anti)fragility of human and non-human body, biological, social and cyberspaces, stories and scenarios of the future as well as confrontations and relationships with the world in a state of transition.​

14th CYFEST (2021):

‘CYFEST-14: Ferment’ took place in UK from 17th to 27th September 2021. Festival examined the theme of fermentation through the dual lenses of art and ecology. Through art installations, workshops and talks, we explored the metamorphoses that fermentation represents.​

CYFEST-14 was a collaborating with Dartington Trust, a centre for learning, arts, ecology and social justice based on a 1,200 acre site near Totnes, in Devon, and the experimental art installations were dotted around the estate for the full ten days of the festival. CYFEST-12: ID. The International Media Art Festival

THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA ART FESTIVAL CYFEST-12 was held from December 2018 to November 2019 in New York, Venice, St. Petersburg and in other cities. The key event took place November 2019 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

11th CYFEST (2017-18):

The 11th CYFEST projects in 2017 were exhibited in principal exhibition venues of New York and Beijing. In 2018 festival took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Venice, Caserta, Italy and London.

11th CYFEST RUSSIA: Festival’s partners in Saint Petersburg are classical and experimental cultural institutions; among them Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, Youth Educational Center at the State Hermitage, Saint Petersburg Sound Museum, Art Center Pushkinskaya-10, Annenkirche (St. Anna’s Lutheran Church) and Sreda Space. The main project of CYFEST 11 is named “Weather Forecast: Digital Cloudiness”.

In 2016, CYFEST (CYBERFEST) celebrated its 10th anniversary.

One of the largest international media art festivals, CYFEST was founded in St. Petersburg in 2007 by independent artists and curators. The festival promotes the emergence of new forms of art and high technology interactions, developing professional connections between artists, curators, engineers and programmers around the world and exposing wide audiences to the works in the field of robotics, video art, sound art and net art. Over the years, the festival has invited artists from Russia, USA, Germany, Japan, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Finland, Italy, the Philippines and other countries.

On its 10th anniversary CYFEST significantly expanded its geography, presenting its projects in New York (USA), Bogotá (Colombia), Krasnoyarsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia).

The 10th CYFEST held in St. Petersburg January 25 through February 7, 2017.
