A series of free summer classes on robots for kids led by a kid. The hands on class, which ranges between an hour to two hours long, is led by Daniil Frants, a twelve-year-old boy.

at Hermitage museum – 26 of November 2010, 17.00 at CYBERFEST in Saint-Petersburg. This workshop for children aged from 9 to 13 years is conducted by Daniil Frants, a twelve year old boy. Having taught this class all over the world, Daniil builds cultural bridges by teaching a subject near and dear to all children nowadays – technology. By providing an opportunity to get an overview of mechanical engineering, an experience of communicating with other children of diverse backgrounds as well as an introduction to possible future professions in the realm of technology – the workshop Humanizing Robots teaches all kinds of working and communication skills. Its participants will experiment with small toy robots: disassemble them, study their internal structure and revive them again.

Daniil Frants has been recently featured at ABC Eyewitness News on Education and Games development for the younger generations. Watch the report below:

15 year old Daniil Frants has lead workshops on creative uses of Technology before he was a teenager. The youngest intern at MIT Media Lab, Daniil has organized and led groups of children to explore the basics of robots and programming at high profile institutions including The Hermitage Museum (Russia) and Kyoseinosato Museum (Japan) and Gogolfest (Ukraine).

Daniil’s engaging workshops explain how New Media Arts develop innovative capabilities by modern mediums. They often present different technologies interacting with each other and give participants an opportunity to get a broad overview and explore, experiment and play with those new technologies.

“For me personally, what drew me to the class was that it seemed like a great artistic outlet for me. I have always loved working with technology, and I had experience working with it for the purpose of cyber art before,” – reveals Daniil Frants.
